SHOTS

My concept of fashion in nature was portrayed here especially the nature part. I decided to combine two images together to make this image as one. I had to crop the picture because it seemed that a plant was coming out of her hair, but it was the way she posed like in the other image. If sometimes i take better landscapes i can keep pasting images of my models used and they will look like different shots all the time because of the location. I also liked the face expression my model used and thats why i chose this one to paste it.
Since my concept is fashion in nature i made sure my model did her hair and that you can aslso still see the trees in the back. I decided to make it a close up so you can catch more detail of her face and to make it more about her top. The only thing i would have changed were the angles i shot of her and her face expressions just to make it seem more model like.
Since my overall idea is fashion i think this image shows my concept very good.To represent nature my model is by these really green trees. Her dress represents very fashion like and the way she is posing also shows us that she is modeling the dress to show fashion. To develop my concept more im going to make sure my models pose more model like.

For my central idea i wanted to do fashion in nature. This represents that fashion in nature because she is by the grass which is nature and also the dress she is wearing shows her outfit being put together. My theme will keep progressing by keeping shooting dresses and in the areas i chose to represent fashion.

8 SHOTS

This photograph on top contributes to my theme of fashion in nature because i set my model out by the trees and you can also capture the beauty of the sun as being with nature. What my model was wearing shoes that kind of fashion but her hair could have been fixed and that what have made my shots preetier. For next time this will help me make sure my models are done with make up, hair, and outfit.

This image also contributes to my theme of fashion in nature because to represent nature i decided to put her by the trees were you can see all the lines. The only thing i had to fix this time was to make sure i was capturing the trees and not the ground. This time my model was dressed up with make up, hair and her outfit. From here on im going to remember to make sure i get all the space above and not the ground as much, because that space above can also be  considered as nature.

EXTRA PHOTOGRAPHS

For my extra shots i really didnt use a theme but i had a concept that i used in all of them which was the use of photoshop. In this image i decided to really let the colors brighten up and show. The picture had  a natural glow and i just wanted to enhance that and the colors more by using photoshop.
In this image this pict ure contributed to my concept because i also used photoshop in this one because i used photoshop to make sure the blacks were black and by using levels. I also decided to add a little bit of texture to the skull just to show its edgy side. I could have worked more on the skull with photoshop and i think that would have made this image pop more.
This photograph of george in the skull fit in with my idea of using photoshop to add effect or try new things. I decided to clone the skull and put it on his face also. This was a fun one because i got to use photoshop in a fun way.
When i photoshoped this picture i wanted to also add a background and i thought she looked very city like so thats why i decided to put her there and add brushes. I started going back to what i learned last year but that way i added more stuff to the layouts this time becaus ei wanted to experience more with it.

When i did this picture i decided it would fit into my concept if i used photoshop to focus on one thing and make the edges darker. I could have also developed the use of photoshop more by making this image a little softer maybe or something like that. So my whole concept for my extra images was the use and development of using photoshop to edit my images.

PHOTO #2

In this piece i was trying to portray fashion in nature. By having the trees in the back i wanted to show nature and also by showing my model is pregnant it embraces the whole beauty of it. What i decided my model to wear was showing the fashion i was trying to portray. Her dress looks a little elegant by the fabric we chose. This contributes to the idea of embracing mother nature in any kind of way. My idea hasn't changed it is just another way of representing fashion in nature.

Mary Mattingly

What I most like about Mary’s work is the themes she does. My inspirational theme from her is the one of Humans and the relationship with the environment. Mary was born on 1978 in Rockville, Connecticut. She lives in New York now, were she had studied in a school of design. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon.

In her work, she likes portraying themes such as home, travel, cartography, and human’s relationship with each other, with the environment, with machines, and with corporate and political entities. She is most recognizable for creating photographs and sculptures and representing futuristic and obscure landscapes, also for making her sculptures wearable. She is also aware of the environment and you can see that she portrays many ecological messages for example when she did the Waterpod in 2009.

What you can notice in her work also is how she provides a vision of the future. What Mary also does though is she takes her time to plan a future sort of scenario. Either way her work is always environmentally and politically concerned involved because that is what she actually focuses in her life. Many of her finished work also are the result of her personality, through her products being used, whether she shows it through the clothes, cultural stamps or some other decorations that she has decorated.

In an interview, she was asked about the process she goes through to complete her work. She said that first she begins with a specific or general story that she has the feeling she needs to say. Than, she begins to create a sculpture or collect images to create something physical to fill in the composition-a new place. After she does that, she begins to choose a natural background. From there, she makes them perform out and she photographs. Choosing her backgrounds of nature comes from the inspiration of her trying to live very humanely, with her interactions with others, with animals, and with nature.

Seeing her work as how she connects nature with fashion and how she is trying to talk about the environment is also, what I am trying to do. Mattingly uses the fashion and sculpture as an element to add onto her composition. She decides to use a nature background because that is her theme; it is always based on nature. Seeing the way she can compose these to, I know in order to make a good photograph I have to make sure that my models interact with nature and capture the moment.

TEST SHOT: FOR FINAL ALSO

I couldnt decide which one to use for my final image since both of these work alot for me i couldnt decide on only one. My idea is to do fashion in nature to show the escence of natural beauty. I think my model did a good job of showing this. I captured her when i felt that she interacted with nature the most. She has very light make up on to show the natural but still a little glamourous. The light coming up from above was a good idea and it works alot for this image and it captures the whole out door theme. Since i couldnt think of which one to use for my final image, you can help me decide on which one to choose for a final image to turn in.

Landscape

I shot these landscape pictures in different places at school and in Acapulco. The ones from Acapulco came out better i would say becase there was more sight seeing then at school.
Photoshop helped out a lot for the ones from Acapulco because they brought out the colors such as the highlights the midtones and the shadows. Photoshop also helped me in fixing the horizon line for the ones showing a horizon because at first they were cricket. Now i know that it is very important for the horizon to come out as straight as possible to make a good picture, and also to make sure all the colors shine as they should. I also think in landscpae it is very important to work with making intresting compostition since there is no people in the shot, and thats what i also tried to include and will make better for next time.

DESIGN

0
For this assignment we had to see things from a different perspective and just use the elements and everything that was around us. The designs and patterns in the shadow caught my eye because i liked how the rail  created that figure. Also the shape and figure that the tree made. I shot the picture from above  so you can still see the actual shape of the rail. I liked doing this project because it opens your eyes to see other things in many different ways. I want to keep doing more things that involve design and using all the elements such as line, texture etc.

GROUP STROBE LIGHT

Working with strobe light was a different experience than all the other ones, the only was that was kind of similar to this was when we did he studio lighting ones because you get use to the lights. I would have liked if we had got some digital shots too because those are the ones that think would of looked nicer. I think in terms of the light we messed up having Luis to far in the back because the light didn't hit him as much and it made him appear really dark. I also think this so is well composition because when i took this i wanted them o have things in common because that way they are dancing to the music shes playing and all while he is filming it. I think next time we just need to work better on our lighting because our composition was good we jst needed the light better so everyone shows up good.

PORTRAIT

In this image what makes the portrait work is the composition. The lines of the window gives it an abstract feeling and also the shape of the window because it is circular. The way the light came in caused shadows which also makes the image looks good. The way my little brother posed and how he put his legs up also make the composition look good. I captured the moment of my brother looking outside the window with a face that he was sort of wondering. Overall it was a fun experience when i took pictures for the other portraits because its fun playing with the light and how it reflects naturally and the natural light causes a good picture where there are also shadows in it. It also sort of brings out the personality and how the light shows on their skin and how they are posed and everything.

Article A Portrait

To me a portrait is capturing the moment of the emotion of facial expression. Its not really focusing on everything else but the face. In the article the artist decided to shoot them with water because she thought i was an intimate moment. She also discussed about the difference of a snapshot and a portrait and she said the difference was a snapshot is someone posing and a portrait is very natural. Also the lighting is very different in a portrait you have to let the light come natural like from a window or door. A portrait is also capturing the essence of that person because they are not posing and looking at the camera but instead they are themselves and just being natural like if you were'nt even there taking the picture.

IN A DIFFERENT PLACE

This is the final image of putting my old photo and adding it into the forest. I hose to be in the forest because i think it has similar colors to the ones i have on my dress, and it all goes and looks good together. I also decided to change the color of my skin to make it come out more and look unrealistic kind of. I decided to do that because this forest reminds me of like a fantasy forest, so i thought it would look good looking unrealistic. Using the magnetic lasso seemed easier to me now since i had already used it, i didn't have any trouble using it. I actually like using this tool a lot because you can put certain stuff and things in another place.I thought this project was cool and i enjoyed making it look sort of abstract.

BRUSHES

reflections for both photoshop pictures
I liked doing both assignments using photoshop. The funnest one was using the brushes because you feel more freely setting up a composition and using different colors. The softening the face was a good project too because now i know that u can erase imperfections and make it look more like a magazing style. I decided to use colors opposite from what i was wearing and for my third color i decided to use a color similar to my dress but darker, so it can stick out and be different so it wouldnt be all blues. i think it looks good with the red because it creates a balance and makes it stand out. i would like to create more brushes to set them up and mess around putting them in different compositions.

STUDIO LIGHT

Studio lighting was an easy process taking the photographs and thinking of portraits that would look classy and good. The hard part of all of this was the printing room. I think the mistake was that we choose black background rather than white which would have looked better. Since we chose black it was hard to destinguish dark things like his hair, shirt, and the other half of his face. In the printing room i had to let less light so the image wouldnt have looked so blown out. The first one i did was to bright because the light was to low, so i had to use a brighter light, and when i did it got darker and the lines separating his hair and shirt from the background dissapeared and it kind of blends in. In the end what i do like about this image is the contrast it shows, and how classic the portrait looks. Next time when we decide to do this project i will decide to use a white background just how the teacher recomended we should of used.

I thought this procces of putting these for images together was a very fun experience. At first i thought it wasng going to look good because i was looking at the pictures as singl, but when i saw them all together i thought it was a very fun process to do, also i thought it looked funny. I never imagined before that you can make yourself look different just by adding different pieces of clothing or changing your hair. This was fun just thinking the four different kind of looks we wanted to got for. I decided to make one of them a preppy person, a cow girl or souther girl, a glamourous rockstar, and last a oldies hippie. What distingueshes them would be how i changed my hair and shir, and just a little bit the make up. On the top two (preppy and cowgirl) i decided to smile because of the personality those stero types have, very bubbly and smiley. On the bottom two i decided not to smile since rockstars are known for being troublesomes and their bad attitude so i thought it would look different if i didnt smile instead. In the oldies i could have smiled but many old photographs ive seen people didnt smile as much. This was an easy process copying and pasting the images in photoshop, and that was the even easiest part. i enjoyed doing this process and seeing how it came out looking.

This is my cover to my sequencing book titiled "Trajic Friendship". I decided to use an image that i use in the story but it was an extra. This image is basicly about the three people shown in it, and you can tell a girl is stuck in the middle between these two friends. At first i decided to tear the picture and make a collage in the front were you would have to guess what its about. But then Aja helped me and sugested it would look better if i put the picture back in the torn pieces. So thats why the image is put back together. Secon i had already decided i wanted to add color into this little book and i thought red would help the whole classy look. So i decided to splatter the paint all over making a look like a more exagerating to the trajic theme. For the font i decided to do cursive, it was a good idea but the lettering didnt come out all that good because of the paper, but i like the title i chose.

Sequencing was maybe the photoshoot were it involved the most thinking. Usually i always have an idea of a photo and i snap it, but this time it had to be more than one photo and when i put all of them together it had to make sense. I had many ideas of different storys, but a mest up love and friendship crossed my head with good images. My story was about two bestfriends that meet a girl(Ruby) and one of them(Carlos) becomes her boyfriend. Later the girlfriend is no longer so close to the boyfriend and in the back of the couple is the other best friend(Rigo). As he starts getting into the picture too. Later as you can see in the top left image Rigo goes behind his bestfriends back and goes out with the girlfriend(Ruby), but carlos has no idea. As he later finds out, Carlos chooses not to be friends with Rigo and theres a big seperation between them, with Ruby in the middle of it. Sequence is also a great process that lets your imagination flow in many different ways. I would love to start making other sequencing intresting stories.

LASOO TOOL

I think the process of this digital assignment was different and in the begining very stressful, but in the end it looked just like i wanted it too. When i started i had a lot of trouble with the lasso tool, but in a way it seemed sort of simple, i just thought it was harder and i stressed out. After i decided to copy and paste and it was not how i wanted to do it so i had to grab the whole image and paste it onto the sky i wanted to show. I chose the sunrise sky because i thought it would look interesting with the structure of the temple thing. How i set it up it looks like a dreamy place and weird but it makes it look cool. After i had pasted the image i had to zoom in and begin erasing the details so i can put the sunset good. i would work again with the lasso tool and now i got more experience to use it so i wont give up fast, and make other creations too.
